obsdog is a guide to Datadog, the monitoring and observability platform: product-by-product explanations, a glossary, and articles on pricing and comparisons. It is written and run by one person, 犬伏まもる.
Why this site exists
Datadog covers a lot of ground, and the newer you are to it, the harder it is to get a map of which product solves which problem. The official documentation is thorough, but it is written as a reference, and it takes time to piece together the big picture from it. This site aims to be that first map, and a place to come back to once you are using Datadog day to day.
What you can read here
- Product guides. Each one follows the same order: what it does, when to use it, and an everyday analogy, so you can read them without prior knowledge.
- Glossary. The fundamentals of monitoring and observability, explained from a practitioner's point of view rather than as dictionary definitions.
- Articles. Topics that feed directly into decisions, such as how the pricing works and how Datadog compares with other monitoring tools.
How the content is written and checked
Everything is written in the author's own words after checking public information such as the Datadog website and official documentation at the time of writing. The references used are listed on each page. Anything that cannot be verified is left out rather than published as a guess. Features and prices change, so please confirm the latest details on the official Datadog, Inc. website (https://www.datadoghq.com/).
The Japanese edition is the original; the English edition is a full translation kept in step with it. When a Japanese page is revised, the English page is revised in the same update.
