How the practice questions are designed
The study courses and practice questions on this site are built for one purpose: to read and understand the scope set out in Datadog's official exam guide, then to check that understanding by answering questions. This page explains the rules we follow when writing questions and how to get the most out of the material.
The official exam guide is the skeleton
The domains in each study course, and the topics listed under them, follow the Content Outline of the exam guide that Datadog publishes. We do not add areas the guide does not cover, and we leave out what the guide explicitly marks as out of scope (programming, systems architecture, testing). Datadog does not publish per-domain weightings or the passing criteria, so this site does not invent numbers for them either. In exam mode, questions are spread across domains in proportion to the number of topics each domain has in the guide.
One question, one point, kept short
Each question targets a single point and is written as a short item. This keeps the reading load low so you can do a few questions at a time during a commute or a break. Once the points are solid, exam mode (the same number of questions and time limit as the real exam) is where you work on pacing and sustained concentration.
Every choice is explained, right and wrong
Reading only why the correct answer is right tends to fall apart when the real exam changes the angle slightly. For every question we explain why the correct answer is right and, one by one, why each of the other choices is wrong. Aim to be able to explain the wrong choices in your own words; that is what carries over to questions you have never seen.
Sources are cited
Each question links to the official documentation it is based on. When something in an explanation catches your attention, check it against the primary source. Datadog's features and defaults change; where this site and the official documentation disagree, the documentation is correct.
Original questions, never copies of the real exam or the official practice exam
Real Datadog certification questions are protected by the candidate agreement, and reproducing them from memory or circulating them as so-called exam dumps violates that agreement. The free official practice exam is Datadog's copyrighted work and is not reproduced or translated here. Every question on this site is written from scratch, based on the public exam guide and official documentation.
Your results stay on your device
No account is needed and every feature is free. Your progress and the questions you missed are stored in your browser and never sent to this site's server. When you come back, you can resume where you left off.
A study loop that works
- Read the study course in domain order, using the check questions at the end of each domain to catch anything you skimmed.
- Use domain drills to concentrate on the domains where your accuracy is lowest.
- Take exam mode to experience the pacing and the concentration a full run demands.
- Use "Review missed questions" to retry them after a few days.
Recalling something just as you are about to forget it is what makes it stick. Missed questions are recorded automatically, so make a habit of retrying them once more the next day or at the weekend.
